Medicare Plans

Medicare Advantage (Part C) in Greenville, TX

In a Medicare Advantage plan, your claims go to a private insurer, not to Original Medicare. You keep your Medicare rights. A single card covers your doctor and hospital care. Most plans fold in prescriptions too.

You'll usually pay less each month, then copays when you get care, and you'll use the plan's network. In Hunt County, check that network before anything else. Does it include Hunt Regional Medical Center? What about the specialists you see in Rockwall, Garland or Dallas?

  • Monthly premiums that are low or $0
  • A cap on your yearly out-of-pocket costs
  • Prescription coverage on most plans
  • Extra benefits like dental, vision and hearing

Look up the network first

Covering Hunt Regional doesn't mean a plan covers doctors over the line in Dallas. So we search the newest directory for your doctors, hospital and pharmacy ahead of enrollment.

Costs

What Part C costs you

Medicare still collects your Part B premium. For most people in 2026 that's $202.90 a month. The plan may add its own premium on top, which can be $0 or a modest monthly amount. After that, you pay copays as you get care: a lower one at your regular doctor, a higher one at a specialist, and more for outpatient surgery or a hospital stay.

Think of the yearly out-of-pocket maximum as a safety net. After you reach it, covered in-network care costs you nothing more that year. Original Medicare doesn't cap your costs like this, which is why many people who skip a Medigap plan choose Advantage. Still deciding? See Advantage vs. Medigap in Greenville.

  • You still owe the Part B premium
  • Most costs come as flat copays instead of a percentage
  • A yearly out-of-pocket limit protects you in a bad year
  • Networks, benefits and drug lists reset every January 1

Extras

Weighing the extra benefits

  • Dental, vision and hearing

Benefits here differ a great deal. The big dental number in an ad may cover only certain work. Find out what the plan pays toward a cleaning and toward a crown.
  • Drug coverage included

Part D comes with almost every Advantage plan. Hold your own prescriptions up to the plan's drug list. A drug on a high tier can cost you more than the premium does. See Part D drug plans.
  • Gym, rides and over-the-counter money

Fitness classes, drugstore allowances and transportation to appointments show up on plenty of plans. These are worth something only if you'll use them.

Timing

When you're allowed to join or switch

The usual times to join are your Initial Enrollment Period when you're turning 65 and Annual Open Enrollment, which runs October 15 to December 7. If you're in an Advantage plan already, the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period gives you one more change between January 1 and March 31.

Certain events open a Special Enrollment Period. Moving, retiring and losing job coverage, or getting approved for Extra Help can all count. Not happy where you are? Read about switching your plan.

Prior authorization

Approvals you mostly don't see with Original Medicare

Many Advantage plans have to sign off on some services before paying for them. MRIs and CT scans, outpatient surgery, a rehab stay after the hospital, home health, medical equipment and certain specialist visits can all be on that list. Your doctor's office sends a request and the plan approves or denies it. Until it does, the care waits.

Most requests are approved, and the time it takes varies by plan. If the answer is no, you can appeal. The plan reviews it first, then an outside reviewer can, and we're glad to help along the way.

On Original Medicare with a Medigap plan, you'll rarely run into prior authorization. If staying clear of it matters more to you than a low premium, say so early, since it changes which plans we'd suggest.

Our process

How we check a Greenville provider network

  1. 1

    Send us your list

Include your main doctor, all your specialists, your preferred hospital and your pharmacy. Each name with its clinic or town works fine.

  2. 2

We check the right year's directory

Every Advantage plan we represent gets searched for the year you'd be enrolled. Last year's listings don't count.

  3. 3

We call the office when needed

Directories aren't always current. When something looks off, a call to the front desk settles it.

  4. 4

    You hear back plainly

Which of our plans include all your providers, which include some, and what seeing the others would cost.

We do not offer every plan available in your area

We can only check the carriers we represent. To see every plan sold in Hunt County, contact Medicare.gov, 1-800-MEDICARE, or HICAP (the Health Information, Counseling and Advocacy Program of Texas) at 800-252-9240.

Local networks

Advantage networks around Hunt County

For most people in Greenville, Hunt Regional Medical Center is the hospital a plan has to include. Hunt Regional also runs family medicine clinics in Commerce, Quinlan and Caddo Mills, plus a medical center in Royse City with a 24-hour emergency department. Veterans may use the Greenville VA Clinic as well. The harder question is Dallas County. A lot of Hunt County residents see cardiologists, cancer doctors and other specialists in Garland or Dallas, or go to Rockwall, and some local plans reach those offices while others don't. Check each doctor and hospital you use, not only the nearest one. Our service areas page lists the towns we cover, and you can always return to the Greenville Medicare overview.

Fit

When Advantage makes sense, and when it falls short

Often a good match when you

  • Get most of your care in Greenville or nearby
  • Want a premium that's low or $0
  • Want a cap on costs in case of a rough year
  • Plan to use dental, vision, hearing or fitness perks
  • Don't mind referrals and paying copays

Often a poor match when you

  • See specialists in Dallas, Garland or Rockwall the plan may not include
  • Have several specialists and want steady, predictable bills
  • Are mid-treatment and can't afford a network change
  • Don't want care held up by approvals
  • Spend part of the year outside Texas

Before you sign

Questions to ask about any Advantage plan

Are all my doctors covered for the coming year?
Check them one at a time, and check your hospital as well. One plan could keep your family doctor in Greenville yet cut the Dallas specialist you see twice a year.
What's the out-of-pocket maximum, in dollars?
That's your ceiling for in-network costs if the year goes badly. Look at it for each plan. Two plans can be thousands of dollars apart.
What would a specialist visit, outpatient surgery and a hospital stay cost me?
Ask for these copays. They show what you'd pay in a year when you actually need care. The premium is usually the smallest figure on the summary.
Do any of my medications need prior authorization or step therapy?
Find out before you sign up. Step therapy lets a plan make you start on a lower-cost drug, even if you took it before and it didn't work.
How much of my dental work will the plan cover?
A big dental allowance might not apply to everything. Ask for the dollar amount it pays on a crown, a filling and a routine cleaning, in writing.
What happens if I want to leave the plan?
Changes are allowed in Annual Enrollment each fall and in the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period from January to March. If you want Medigap later, expect health questions. Read about switching your plan.
